Windows Windows. Most Popular. My chicony usb 2. What should i do? Additionally, I went to the Chicony website but the information is only available in Chinese or Japanese. I can't control the cam in my new Toshiba unless an active chat is started. Thumbs down. Sometimes vista doesn't recognize it in the startup, so you have to reinstall it takes like 2 minutes.

I know i am probably too late but: Stating the obvious which appears not to have been mentioned; have you checked that it is set to start when it firsts starts? Same problem with Toshiba Satellite A, on win7 After nothing worked reinstalling drivers, checking startup , I tried to open it and check if some cable got loose, as I was opening it several months ago to clean the fan. All cables are fine, so my last hope to find a solution alone vanished.

Also, I installed latest camera assistant software with drivers, but it seams as camera doesn't exist. I get note : Webcam is either disabled or has failed. Please check your webcam settings. Camera doesn't appear on list of devices, and when I open Skype, it also shows as camera doesn't exist. I used to use camera without problems for years rarely, but without problems , and only now discovered it's not functioning anymore. Also, in startup it's checked that it runs, but there is no traybar cam software, that used to be there.

Do you know how to enable this? In reply to aninima's post on August 12, After installation if you try running it you will get an error message but don't worry Launch Device Manager by right-clicking on the Computer icon on the desktop or the start menu and choose Manage from the menu that pops up.

This will launch the Computer Management application then choose Device Manager from the left pane. This will start the driver update wizard. Select the second option on the first page of this wizard: " Browse my computer for driver software" and this will lead you to the second page of the wizard. This is where you point windows 7 to the driver that you will like to use for you camera. So you can now browse to where this driver is. In this driver folder you will find two sub-folders 32bit and 64 bit so choose the one that corresponds to the version of OS you are using.

This worked for me and i hope it works for anybody with the same problem.
