Yes you have to provide credit card information so they can sign you up for auto-renewal at a higher price, but it is really easy to immediately cancel the subscription and remove your credit card information. For me that is much less effort than if I encountered issues with installation or with things not working after installation.
Comes with 50GB Cloud Backup. The interface seems very basic and not easy to use, but it works. The VPN also works but also very basic. For example, if you get disconnected, the VPN does not automatically reconnect so you have to turn it back on. I have not had the chance to use Parental Controls. Much cheaper to purchase this product rather than renewing through Norton every year.
It appears that you can't use this product if you already have Norton running on your computer. What's worse is that once it is ordered, it cannot be returned for a refund. So you may actually throw your money away - as I did! Its not easy calling them and getting services. If you buy this product you, can't return it.
Since the Pandemic, I tried to contact Norton, with no response. Other antivirus products have some one you can call and get service. The product seems to work fine. The auto renewal feature is very annoying. You can opt out of the auto renewal, but the process to do so is not user friendly. And if you forget to opt out right away, beware. They state in their policy that they will contact you by email prior to doing so, but I received no such email. And the amount they charged me for renewal was at least five times the price that I paid buying it retail. I have been using Norton for several years now and I am happy with the protection that it provides for any device that is connected to the internet.
It is even better now that it includes the virtual private network feature for devices that move around with you like laptops, cellphones and tablets.
Even though I have several months to go on my existing Norton I usually by it again when I see a really good price and wait until the existing one nearly expires before I install the newly purchased one. It requires that you enroll in the annual update service but you can actually decline that option after the initial install. I do this because I always buy a new subscription at a good price before the old one expires. I've used Norton for a number of years without ever having had any viruses, so in that respect it is a good product.
Last year I purchased Norton Deluxe online from another source as it is approx 3 or 4 times less expensive than buying direct from Norton????. I read the Auto Renewal info and supplied my credit card details in order to activate the product. Thankfully I had cause to change my Credit Card a couple of months ago before I cancelled the Auto Renewal which was just as well as Norton attempted to charge my "old" card well before the subscription ended without sending me the Obligatory Email first as they are supposed to do.
I could not install this unless I gave Norton my Credit card number and agreed to auto-renew yearly. After installing I turned off auto-renew on Norton's site the then turned off auto renew on my credit site.
