This parity check error is very confusing. I ran some RAM tests with couple of software programs, Ubuntu live cd 9. I did it and the test was complete without errors. I then switched to the second chip only and still I would get the blue screen. At first it seemed like a good idea, because windows 7 gave me the windows recovery error on boot up and it said it was sound card related. However after I updated the driver it still gave me memory parity error.
If it runs 2 or 3 passes with out error its likely your ram is ok. But if you have installed more memory, remove it and stay with the initial memory only. This usually goes to disable so you have to turn it on. Have you been changing board default or jumps? Put them back on as they were. This is the basics for the computer, so if you have tv or other stuff like that, remove it. But if your system still starts up, try the safe mode. This way you will know if the problem persists. I will be talking to Dell software folks in the AM. I have googled AND Bing'd the web and can't find any responses that don't suggest what I have already tried--reinstall Win7, update drivers. My favorite was when Windows decided it wasn't Genuine and tried to stop Microsoft Security Essentials.
While I think there must be some sort of corruption of Win 7 by the Hulu site I watched from the website not the Windows Media Center it seems to spread throughout Win7 thereafter and thus should be a concern of Win7 folks, not just a shuck-off to the Hulu folks. The solution at this point is not to use Hulu, but I am afraid that the continuing corruption will recur, and I will not be a happy camper if I have to do another clean reinstall.
I don't know if this happens with other streaming video sites since I don't watch much video on my computer--I don't think I've even been to YouTube lately. Someone needs to research this and stop with the "update drivers" routine since that is in my case not the problem. I do know that Dell doesn't have drivers for my computer that are specific to Winjust Vista. Is this something I should be pushing Dell to fix? All else works swimmingly with the Vista drivers Dell has on offer.
